Troop Registration: $151.00 per year payable Nov. 1 of each year includes: National BSA Registration, Advancement Fee, District Camporee Fees, and Boys Life Magazine, Troop Equipment Rental and Troop T Shirt. If you have NEVER been a registered Scout, there is a one-time $25.00 application fee. Troop Website: www.BSAtroop420.com Uniform: Scouts will need an official scout shirt, short or long pants, short socks and a scout belt. We do have a uniform closet containing used uniforms. These are free to anyone who can find their size. Scouting items can be purchased from the National BSA Supply at 1-800-323-0732. Uniforms should be worn to troop meetings and at the troop’s departure for camporees. Uniforms are expensive and you should insist they wear them. Uniform patches that need to be purchased from BSA include the following: Cape Fear Council Strip, Numerals 4,2,and 0, American Flag (my still come with shirt), World Scout Crest Emblem. See inside back cover of the Boy Scout Handbook for patch placement on uniform. Our troop has a used uniform closet with plenty of small sizes. These are free for the asking. Camping Equipment: Call 1-800-526-4784 and ask Campmor for a catalog. They have all kinds of camping equipment, and the prices are among the best around. Much of the camping equipment available locally is not of the quality that a Scout needs. Ask a Scout leader for advice before you spend your money on sleeping bags, backpacks, pocketknives, rain gear, etc. |
