A calendar of events is mailed to parents informing them of all troop meetings, camporees and other Scouting events. Much of our communication today is via the internet to Scouts and parents. Troop Registration: $70 per year payable December 1 of each year includes advancement fee, District Camporee Fees, Troop Equipment Rental, Troop T Shirt and Troop program fees. National BSA Registration: Is paid annually direct to the national organization. The annual fee in 2026 is $88. Troop Website: www.BSAtroop420.com Uniform: Scouts will need an official scout shirt, short or long pants, short socks and a scout belt. We do have a uniform closet containing used uniforms. These are free to anyone who can find their size. Scouting items can be purchased from the National BSA Supply at 1-800-323-0732. Uniforms should be worn to troop meetings and at the troop’s departure for camporees. Uniforms are expensive and you should insist they wear them. Uniform patches that need to be purchased from BSA include the following: Cape Fear Council Strip, Numerals 4,2,and 0, American Flag (my still come with shirt), World Scout Crest Emblem. See inside back cover of the Boy Scout Handbook for patch placement on uniform. Our troop has a used uniform closet with plenty of small sizes. These are free for the asking. Camping Equipment: There are many online resourses for camping equipment. The troop has loaner equipment for new scouts. Do not purchase equipment without consulting a troop leader to make sure you are spending your money wisely. Typical camping gear includes: sleeping bags, backpacks, pocketknives, rain gear, head lamps, etc. |
